Hernando County Public Libraries - “Brooksville Library 5K” , The 5K run will start at 8:00 am, March 11, 2017. The route starts at the Brooksville Public Library and races through the hills of Brooksville to finish in the library parking lot. Runners can register on the day beginning at 6:30 am. Online registration is now available, please call for more information at 352-754-4043. The Kids Fun Run will start at 9:00 am. The Fun Run is under a mile and is free. The Run benefits the Friends of the Library of Hernando County & YMCA of the Suncoast.

Hernando County Public Library offers a series of three computer classes FREE designed to teach you what you need to be a safe, efficient, and effective user of the World Wide Web and e-mail at the at the Spring Hill Branch Library. Registration is required.

In Getting on the Web with Google Chrome, you’ll learn some of the fundamentals of life on the World Wide Web using Google’s popular browser. You’ll see how to move from one web page to another. We’ll discuss the way a web address gets built. We’ll also learn how you use a web address to get where you need to go on the web and how to keep a record of web pages that interest you using bookmarks.


With Learning E-mail with Gmail, you’ll find out how to send, receive, and organize your e-mail. Learn to use Gmail, the most widely used e-mail service. Or if you have a service you already like, you can still come to this class to learn how to read your e-mail and reply to it. You can learn how to send an e-mail and how to attach files to it. We even cover downloading files others have sent to you and organizing your e-mail to make easier to find when you need it again


More on the Web with Google Chrome will show you how to find the website you need, quickly and safely. You will learn to search for information on the Web using Google, a search engine and be given guidelines to help in judging the reliability and safety of your search results. You will also be introduced to the basic maintenance needed to make your web browsing speedy and private. Finally, you will be made aware of the skills needed to keep yourself safe and secure on the web. These skills include identifying a domain name, using programs that protect you from possible harm, and more.

Classics Discussions
Do you enjoy classic books and classic literature? If so, your Hernando County Public Library has a book discussion group for you! Read the chosen piece, and then join others to share responses to it in a fun and informal atmosphere.  New members are warmly welcomed.
The May meeting of the Classics Book Discussion Group will be on Albert Camus and his essay, "The Sea Close By”.
Please join us for this discussion Friday, May 22 from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Spring Hill Branch Library, located at 9220 Spring Hill Drive.
