Sue Atkins painted this watercolor in North Carolina in the fall.  But instead of painting with water, she prepared black walnut ink and dipped watercolor brushes and bamboo pens in to that before going into the pigment. The resulting painting developed as Sue laid down colors using lots of textural fibers and plants to leave their patterns on the paper.
