Stage West Community Playhouse recently celebrated its 33rd year of providing live theater to Hernando County. Founded in 1981, by a group of people who loved live theater, and enjoyed performing, they produced and put on shows at any available venue, such as schools, the local VFW, churches, etc.
In 1993, the Main Stage building was built on land that was donated to the organization. The Forum Theater was built in 1999. The facility is now recognized as one of the finest Community Theaters in the area. Stage West currently provides the community with live entertainment year round, and is a non-profit 501 ©(3) organization. The people involved in the operation of the theater are members that volunteer their time, including the actors, set construction people, painters, ushers, lobby workers, tech people, costumers, back stage workers, and Board of Directors.
Stage West proudly provides scholarships each year to deserving local high school seniors. This past year’s scholarships totaled nearly $10,000 dollars, all provided by the patrons who participated in our 50/50 raffles at each performance and through other donations for that purpose.
We welcome anyone who may be interested to become a member and become involved in our theater, in whatever capacity that may interest them.
We hope you will come and enjoy the shows, and your experiences here. We want to thank you, our patrons, for without you there would be no Stage West Community Playhouse. THANK YOU.
